Connecting to a Program of Activities
on: October 15, 2013, 20:23

It is rather difficult to set out an entire program of activities and go through all of the regulatory work of getting one reconized by the UNFCCC. The time and resources required to accomplish this is even prohibitive for most small organizations. For this reason, it is possible to find other (usually larger) organizations that have already registered a Program of Activities (PoA, in UNFCCC lingo). Linking up with another organization's PoA can be quite expensive depending on the number of stoves an organization plans on selling. However, it can be quite economic as well. Once the PoA is joined, there is only the matter of continuing with monitoring and reporting results from the use of the stoves sold. This is usually done on the basis of random sampling and one-on-one interviews of stove users over time. All of this takes time and effort, but the carbon credits gained should more than compensate for the time and effort invested.

Thank you, that is a very valuable comment.

Additional information on PoAs can also be found on the KfW PoA Information and Assistance Platform:
