Unlocking the Hidden Value of Carbon Offsetting

Offsetting one tonne of carbon dioxide brings an additional USD 664 in benefits to the communities where carbon reduction projects are based.

For the first time ever, academic research confirms: Carbon offset programs generate high positive impacts on the climate, the local environment and communities. Key findings show:

  • Relevance to business and co-benefits drive the motivation to offset.
  • Companies indicate that their motivation to offset reaches from reputation/brand image, employee engagement, to supply chain management.
  • Quantification of co-benefits enables businesses to create links to their strategic goals.
